DELFAEN NOBILITY:

Delfaen nobility mostly consists of the Winged One, one of which is born into every generation (though it is rarely related to the last Winged One) who rules the Delfae in lieu of a monarch, the Regent, who governs the groups of delfae who have separated on behalf of the Winged One, and mages who have acheived very high positions. Inherited titles are rare among the delfae, those that exist are almost always unnecessary and unwanted gifts from the Dwarves. There are some family lines which determine magical talents and ability (for the most part) but individuals are still required to advance on their own merits rather than simply inheriting their parent's magical aptitude.
